The Patriot Caucus of Michigan

There has been a major shift in plans with the recent announcement of the nationwide Tax Day Tea Party in Washington, D.C. and the new Patriot Caucus.

This page will soon host information on buses & hotels for the march on Washington. It will also contain information about the Patriot Caucus and the statewide delegation.

NOTE: We understand there are ALA, 9/12, TPP, Resistnet, icaucus, CC2009 and other organizations across the state. The Patriot Caucus is not in place to duplicate or replace any existing efforts.

Please come and join us and show support for our movement. I received today the following message from the organizer of the event. Info for the event can be found at http://michiganactivists.com/

A personal appeal from a U of M student in Ann Arbor:

As the day of our Tax Day Tea Party approaches, we are hearing more and more about the dirty tactics the other side plans to employ in order to destroy our campus movement. Our protest began as an organic and genuine cry against the massive encroachment of the federal government upon our personal liberties. We have now been informed that the other side plans to bus people in from Metro Detroit and Detroit proper in an attempt to dwarf us. Campus is quite literally abuzz.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The Opposition plans to arrive an hour before us, at 6:00pm. PLEASE, help us and try to arrive by 5:00pm if possible! Gather on the steps of the Hatcher Graduate Library so as to prevent the Opposition from doing so at 6:00. Many students will still be in class, so we need YOU to come and help us as we fight liberalism at Ground Zero: Ann Arbor! If you can only commit two hours, please consider coming early and then letting the students relieve you closer to 7pm.

Once again, we are outnumbered heavily, even at our own event. The other side has said that we should be destroyed as a movement on campus. We have received every sort of threat, taunt, and smear imaginable, and will continue to have them thrown at us through the rally. Let's show them they're wrong. NOW IS OUR TIME TO FIGHT BACK AND BEGIN THE PROCESS OF TAKING BACK OUR PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES!!!

To draw an analogy, this protest is NOT the equivalent of a Tea Party in Boston over 200 years ago. Rather, it is the equivalent of a Tea Party in London 200 years ago, at the heart of British power and the influence of the British Crown. WE HAVE NOT YET BEGUN TO FIGHT! JOIN US THIS THURSDAYand help us DEFEND LIBERTY at U of M!!!

Signed,

A U of M Student Patriot

Hello all, just joined the group. Read about the Patriot Caucus and the effort to organize national groups. Sounds like a good idea, there certainly is alot of them.

I belong to many but have recently been active with the Ann Arbor Patriots. We have been making plans and taking steps to develop the Precinct Project here in Washtenaw County.

Good being here. Let's take back our country!

Shores hosts 'tea'parties
JULIE SNYDER.
Published: January 13, 2010

Commuters along Harper and Little Mack may notice small groups of people gathered now and then on rights of way on or near busy street corners, hoisting signs declaring their desires to see a change in today's government. These local demonstrators, many of whom are part of the Macomb County TEA Party group, are now looking to recruit more members, or at least give some advice and maybe educate a few people.

Ken Matiyow said the local efforts are being made through the Metro Detroit Freedom Coalition (MEDEFCO), a new political organization made up of metro Detroit TEA Party members whose mission is to work in influencing and affecting federal, state, county and local policies and elections.

"It's a very interesting group," said Matiyow of MEDEFCO. "I just joined up with them last year, and the meetings have really just exploded.

More and more people are coming out each month to see what we're all about. Each meeting averages between 180 and 200 attendees." What might keep people coming in throngs are the intriguing guest speakers, Matiyow said. Last month's guest speaker was Detroit News columnist Nolan Finley, and their Jan. 20 guest speaker will be former state Rep. Jack Brandenburg.

Brandenburg, who for six years served Harrison Township and St.
Clair Shores in the Michigan House of Representatives, has announced his candidacy in the state Senate, 11th district.

The Senate position is being vacated by term-limited Alan Sanborn.

The district encompasses Macomb Township, Shelby Township, Harrison Township, Chesterfield, New Baltimore, Washington, Lennox, Richmond, Armada, Bruce Township and Ray Township.

Brandenburg said last week that as guest speaker, he plans to talk about his past and his potential future in politics.

"I'll be speaking about the cost of government, the economy, my six years in the House and my Senate candidacy," he confirmed.

"They (MEDEFCO) are fairly new, but I hear their numbers are growing. Let's see how it goes." The upcoming meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at Barrister Gardens, 24225 Harper. For more information, go to www.medefco.com.

NO THIRD PARTY!

We don't need to create a new "Third Party"...

We just need to replace these corrupt "career" politicians in the Democratic and Republican Parties who have sold our country out to multi-national corporations, special interest groups, and political action committees!

These crooks, liars, and traitors who call themselves "Moderates", or "Progressives", or "Rockefeller Republicans" WANT the Tea Party Movement to break off into a Third Party so that THEY will continue to keep control of their respective Party.

We will NOT let that continue!
